HyMEC Hydraulic Wedge Clamping System, HWC

for

Plastic Injection Molding Machine

2. Structure and Operating Sequence

2-1. As shown on the below, HWC Clamping System consists of mainly 4 kinds of parts, hwc-Unit (including clamping cylinder), Up-Down moving cylinder, Jack screw & nut. The other parts, such as platen, tie-rod, ejector etc., are same or similar to the conventional toggle or direct pressure type injection molding machines.

HWC device moving cylinder can be installed at various direction and location, upper or lower or side, according to the available space to be installed at, or the clamping forces.

2-2. At the position of the mold open, HWC moves down by the cylinder (4) and the center hole of the rear platen (10 is open, so that Jack screw with the mold can be backward.

2-3. When the mold is closed by the forwarded mold moving platen (2) with the mold moving cylinder(3), the gap between the end of Jack screw(6) and the front platen of HWC unit is kept about 1mm, so that HWC unit can pass between the fixed panel and Jack screw and reaches to the clamp position.

2-4. At the clamping postition HWC center wedge starts to move up, which push the front wedge to the end of Jack screw and the mold for few mm. The force created within few mm distance and transferred to Jack screw and the mold, is a strong clamping force that the machine requires for the injection.
